This is the warehouse we purchased in the spring of 2014 to convert into The Edge Theater, a new performing arts space in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. The Edge Theater will serve as the headquarters of Li'l Buds Theatre Company and will be available to rent by performing arts groups.
Working with our architect, Peter Siegal, we began to design our space. Our primary goal was to create a home for Li'l Buds as well as a flexible performance space with at least 100 seats. Additional wish list items were prop and costume storage, rehearsal space and a welcoming lobby. General contractor Build Corps, Inc. joined our team. Plans were finalized and we began the building permit process.
Demolition begins. Digging up the concrete floors is more difficult than expected. Interior walls are taken down while supportive scaffolding goes up.
As construction proceeds, structural metal beams are added and scaffolding is taken down. Masonry walls are added, plumbing pipes and electrical conduit are installed. Debris is removed in preparation for concrete floors to be poured.
